Cervical Cancer Vaccines Market, By Product Type, By Distribution Channel, and By Region- Size, Share, Trends, and Forecast 2018-2026
Cervical cancer is becoming the top cause of cancer death in women all over the world. According to the World Health Organization, about 90% of cervical cancer deaths occurred in low- and middle-income countries in 2018. Vaccination against the human papillomavirus (HPV) has the potential to significantly reduce this burden. Cervarix, Gardasil, and Gardasil 9 are three vaccinations licenced by the US Food and Drug Administration to help prevent HPV infections, which are one of the primary causes of cervical cancer.
The Cervical Cancer Vaccines Market was valued at US$ 2,595.4 million in 2018, and is predicted to grow at a CAGR of 12.1 percent from 2018 to 2026.
Increasing Government Initiatives and Programs to Support Cervical Cancer Vaccine Market Growth
Major governments around the world are concentrating their efforts on raising public knowledge about cervical cancer and its therapies. Government measures, such as free vaccination, are also propelling the global cervical cancer vaccines market forward. According to the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) 2018, Rwanda's government hopes to eliminate cervical cancer by 2020 by immunising all teenage females aged 11 to 15.
Restraints in the Cervical Cancer Vaccine Market
During the projected period, the high cost of cervical cancer treatment is expected to limit the growth of the worldwide cervical cancer vaccines market. According to the National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI), the cost of cervical cancer therapy in 2017 ranged between US$ 368 and US$ 11,400, depending on the type of institution and treatment. The extra cost per disability-adjusted life year (DALY) prevented from HPV vaccination is estimated to be in the range of US$ 780 – US$ 1,120. In Vietnam, however, the incremental cost per DALY prevented for HPV vaccination can approach US$ 8000 at list prices for Cervarix and Gardasil.
